In years past, slotted Sunglasses used to be easily available via an in-game quest, but the quest has since been removed. They are one of very few middle headgear items to have card slots (among them Elven Sunglasses and Elven Ears). Because they are the among the only gear items that cannot be stripped from a character, slotted Sunglasses were considered overpowered as players were able to slot powerful headgear cards into them without worry of losing their effects to the strip status.
Due to how easy it was to get slotted Sunglasses from the quest, Ragnarok Online servers were easily flooded with them. Some servers, like iRO, quickly removed the quest after seeing the amount of slotted Sunglasses skyrocket. It is assumed that the developers did not realize how overpowered slotted Sunglasses were and so created a quest that allowed players to get them too easily.
