In March of 2016, GRAVITY handed over development reins of RO2 to their western subsidiary Gravity Interactive.
Three years later, in January of 2019, Gravity Interactive admits that they are incapable of proper game development.
Source: WarpPortal Forums 2019 Jan. 16 During the 3 years that Gravity Interactive had full developmental rights of RO2, they added a goddess war update, an in-game barbershop-type feature, modified the existing monster summoning system into a cute pet system, and modified the existing elite monster system into a MVP system. All of which does little to nothing to satiate players' desire to go back to the Legend of the Second version of RO2, nor did they give players the Niflheim update that's been promised over and over again but ultimately never delivered. Gravity Interactive has not stated explicitly that they will outright shut down the game, which implies that they seem willing to continue developing the game once they have enough manpower again. For now, players can continue playing the game without worry of losing their time and effort. Resident Lorekeeper of Ragnarök |

goddesses update was an overhaul of the master level system to be similar to lots, cute pet was made to work alongside with the summoning system, and mvp system wasn't a modification of the elite monster system. of all those you pointed out only the first two were real updates, and the goddesses update never received a follow up. rip ro2 |

Thank you for the corrections. In any case, it's obvious by now that the source code for Legend of the Second is long gone and all we have to work with is the disappointing Advent of Valkyrie version of the game. Terrible shame. |
