Kirkena is a Witch who lives in a floating house high above the main town of Niflheim. She means no harm to live Normans and is willing to teleport those who wander haplessly into Niflheim back to Umbala.

One day, Kirkena encounters an adventurer who came to return her Witch's Spell Book after a spirit name Ashe Bruce stole it from the witch. When Kirkena asks the adventurer why they are in the land of the dead, the adventurer replies that he/she wishes to help a child name Alakina Anne who had somehow ended up in Niflheim. Surprised that a living child was in town, Kirkena gives the adventurer a Crow Wing, which should easily teleport any living person back to where they came from. The adventurer takes the wing and disappears.

The adventurer returns some time later to report that the wing did not work on Alakina. Kirkena is perplexed at the outcome until she realizes that the child in question was not alive after all and that she is where she belongs now. Kirkena assures the adventurer that there's nothing else he/she can do and and that many spirits in Niflheim are just as upset at their fate.

Kirkena meets the adventurer again who sought her out in order to find out more about a situation in Niflheim. Kirkena doesn't reveal much, instead saying that the adventurer must prove him/herself by acquiring Lady Hel's Symbol of the Nine Realms. When the adventurer returns with the item, Kirkena reveals that a spirit name Serin wishes to return to the realm of the living and that she would do whatever it takes to achieve that goal, even if it meant destroying the world. She asks the adventurer to put a stop to Serin's plans and gives him/her a Witch's Tonic, which would erase Serin's memories of her past life and allow her to accept her death more easily. Kirkena then teleports the adventurer to Serin to stop her.

Kirkena is pleased that the adventurer was able to stop Serin and put the spirit to rest. She then tells the adventurer to visit Lady Hel once more as the queen of the dead wished to see the adventurer again.[1]

Ragnarok Online II[edit | edit source]

Kirkena has her own costume in RO2 and appears as a vanity pet in the game.
