Grim Reaper Ankou is a loyal servant of Surt. He was the one who created the realm of Bios Island to ensnare unwitting adventurers for his jotunn master. Within this realm, each day is a lifetime in which creatures that he summons onto the island will pass from infancy, to adulthood, and then undeath.
In iRO, this character is localized as Reaper Yanku.
Story[]

Ankou encounters Rune Knight Vrid and Guillotine Cross Zeith along with other adventurers that have wandered into Mors Cave. When they've spent an entire day on the island, Ankou traps the adventurers in ice and unleashes the final stage of the creatures upon them. When his army of undeath proved useless against the adventurers, Ankou engages them in combat himself. He then flees from the adventurers after accomplishing what he set out to do: distracting them enough to give Surt time to recover.[1]
Ankou encounters the adventurers again when they've managed to encroach deeper into Mors Cave. After they've been weakened by several monsters, Ankou takes them to Surt himself, thinking that his lord and master would be able to handle them. His assumption is proven false and he watches as Surt uses his necromancer to heal himself with the adventurers' energy. Ankou appears before the adventurers once again after they destroy the necromancer, and boasts of their impending doom at the hands of his master.[2]

- Ankou is a personification of death in Breton mythology as well as in Cornish (an Ankow in Cornish), Welsh (yr Angau in Welsh) and Norman French folklore.[3]
