Gretel is the professor of the Elemento Academy's Monsterology Department. She teaches students about monsters and their place in the world. She is skeptical of rumors that pop up from the students and will only accept hard evidence before investigating any.
Story

Gretel initially assumes that a student (the player) is trying to ditch her class. When the cadet tells her about the sighting of a strange individual wandering around the school grounds, she is skeptical and reminds the student that the academy faculty consists of well-trained Knights and that there was no way any strangers could waltz in without them knowing. The student then presents a tattered button to Gretel, who begins to believe his/her story.[1] She then tells the student to inform Teil and Sophie that they are to take over her class for her while she goes to Dean Wilfred with the button.[2][3]
Gretel and the dean eventually realize that their colleague Fritz was the one behind the strangers' appearance and go off to confront him. When they find him near the Cave of Riddles, Fritz bolts off, causing them to give chase.[4]
