Joy Rowell is a greedy Huntress who collects gems from the Leaf Cats in the Divided Plains for profit. She is at odds with fellow hunter Reidin Kurs, who doesn't think hunting should be an activity of leisure. She has a follower name Corbin who sees her as a master hunter.

Joy encounters and adventurer who gives her Reidin's Letter in an effort to change her ways. Joy scoffs at the letter, saying that hunters should be able to make a living off their lifestyle.[1] She then tasks the adventurer to collect Sapphire Eyes and Emerald Eyes for the Leaf Cats in the nearby Leaf Cat Forest.[2] Surprised by the adventurer's ability to collect the gemstones, Joy then tests the adventurer's strength by requesting that he/she acquire a Teardrop Diamond from one of the strongest Leaf Cats, claiming that it's not worth much compared to the Sapphire and Emerald Eyes that the adventurer collected. But once she got her hands on the diamond, Joy proclaims that it's actually worth 1 million Zeny, much to the adventurer's dismay at being used.[3] Joy then shoos the adventurer away without even a thanks.[4]
