~ Lady Hel

Lady Hel is the goddess of the dead and ruler of Niflheim. Her castle Eljudnir possesses a special fountain that produces Cursed Water. Her servant Ganglati, or Gen, has the ability to send those worthy of Lady Hel's presence to her castle.

On iRO, this character is localized as Lady Hell.

Story[]

SPOILER WARNING: Plot and/or ending details follow.

For years, Lady Hel sought the soul of her mother Angrboda, who was torn asunder into 4 pieces and sealed deep underneath Glastheim. Then one day, an adventurer visits her castle with a complete Spiritual Whispers crystal containing her mother's soul. Impressed by the feat, Lady Hel awards the adventurer with a weak version of her Symbol of the Nine Realms and access to her cursed water fountain. She warns the adventurer to use the symbol wisely or else there would be dire consequences. The adventurer acknowledges and leaves.

Some time later, Lady Hel hears of the adventurer's success in defeating a lost soul name Serin. She requests the presence of the adventurer to thank him/her for a job well done by refining the Sobbing Starlight into Lucifer's Lament.[1]

Trivia[]

  • In Norse mythology, Hel is a being who presides over a realm of the same name, where she receives a portion of the dead. In the Prose Edda book Gylfaginning, Hel is described as having been appointed by the god Odin as ruler of a realm of the same name, located in Niflheim.
